Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Rocky’ props will hit auction block

It ain’t about how hard you hit — but Rocky’s boxing gloves couldn’t hurt in the ring.

The signature red lace-ups worn by Sylvester Stallone in the 1980s boxing flick “Rocky III” — along with nearly 500 other items from the actor’s career — are expected to rake in up to $1.5 million at an auction in December, according to a report.

Action movie buffs can take a swing at owning costumes, props and scripts from Stallone’s most popular films, including “Rambo,” Cliffhanger” and “Demolition Man,” Julien’s Auctions told Reuters Tuesday.

The Tuf Wear-brand gloves will likely sell for  $10,000 to $20,000 while “Rambo” fans can snap up a collection of knives from the first three films for roughly $10,000 to $20,000.

A headband worn by Stallone in “Rambo: First Blood Part II” is expected to sell for $8,000 to $10,000 and Stallone’s handwritten notebooks about the first four “Rocky” movies will go for $40,000 to $60,000, Julien’s predicted.

The 75-year-old actor wants to get rid of the iconic items because he’s planning to move to a new home, said Martin Nolan, executive director at Julien’s.

The Tuf Wear-brand gloves used in the “Rocky” films could fetch at least $10,000.

“He actually is relocating, he’s selling his house, so that’s a perfect time for anyone to sort of downsize,” he said.

“We expect… a huge response to this (auction) announcement because people have pent up demand for iconic items like this, authentic items coming directly from the man himself.”

Other items for sale will include posters, the boxing mouth guard worn by Stallone in “Rocky” and a costume designed by Gianni Versace for “Judge Dredd.”

“Overall, we estimate the sale in the range of $1 to $1.5 million. That’s a conservative auction estimate because they are so iconic and people love this stuff,” Nolan said.

The “Property from The Life and Career of Sylvester Stallone” sale will be held on Dec. 5 at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, Calif.
