Tesla crashes outside NYC assisted-living center, killing teen

A speeding Tesla crashed outside a Brooklyn assisted-living center, killing an 18-year-old passenger and injuring four others, cops said Friday.

The fatal crash occurred just before midnight Thursday when the luxury electric car, driven by a 22-year-old man, jumped a curb, barreled through a metal fence and hit two dumpsters before striking a retaining wall for Sunrise in Mill Basin on Strickland Avenue, authorities said.

One of the male teens in the backseat, identified as Jack Levy, was rushed Brookdale Hospital, where he died, police said.

The driver, who was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County for hand and leg injures, allegedly lost control of the car while taking the turn at “an apparent high rate of speed” onto Strickland Avenue from National Drive, cops said.
