3 firefighters, 12 others injured in Brooklyn, NYC fire

Three firefighters were injured battling a Brooklyn blaze that also left 12 civilians hurt, the FDNY said.

The fire broke out just after 3:45 a.m. Saturday on the first floor of a seven-story building on Homecrest Avenue in Sheepshead Bay.

Nearly 120 firefighters were called to the scene at 2665 Homecrest Ave. as the blaze quickly spread to the floor above, according to the FDNY.

It took nearly an hour and a half before the fire was reported under control at 5:10 a.m., officials said.

Three firefighters and 12 residents suffered minor injuries, officials said. The firefighters were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, the FDNY said.
