Instagram Reels mimics TikTok in several ways already, and now, it is getting another feature from this famous video application. Users now can ‘remix’ their reel on Instagram, meaning they could upload a video alongside another user’s, atop the original video clip. The new feature is famous on TikTok already, mostly for dance challenges, in the duet function.
For remixing a reel, just tap on the dot menu present on the reel and choose ‘Remix the Reel.’ You could record your new reel from there or upload a pre-recorded clip. You could also regulate the volume of the recorded audio or original audio, and include a voiceover, with other edit functions. Just the new reels will come with the remix option enabled automatically; however, if you want others to get the option to remix an old reel you uploaded, you could turn that function on manually by tapping on that dot menu present on your reel and choosing ‘Enable Remixing.’ But if you wish to turn off the remixing option on all of your videos, you could do that through profile settings.
Launched in August 2020, Instagram appeared to be open to letting people repurpose and use their TikTok videos on its platform. However, over time, Instagram has introduced multiple TikTok features, while even deemphasizing any video that has been recycled.
