Indiana Jones 5 adds Phoebe Waller-Bridge to cast, John Williams returns

We already knew Indiana Jones was coming back for a fifth installment, but now Disney has announced a few more details, including the return of the series’ veteran composer.

Disney announced Friday that composer John Williams and actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be joining Indiana Jones 5 (Lucasfilm has not announced the film’s final title). Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story) will star in the new movie alongside Harrison Ford, who will return as Indy. And, of course, no new Indiana Jones movie would be complete without Williams’ iconic theme and scores. The film will be directed by James Mangold (Logan, Ford v. Ferrari

“I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers,” Mangold said in a news release. “Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”

This will be the first Indiana Jones movie since the misbegotten fourth installment, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was released in 2008. Notably, this will also be the first Indiana Jones movie produced by Disney, since the studio acquired the rights to the franchise when it purchased Lucasfilm in 2012.

Indiana Jones 5 is set to bring everyone’s favorite Nazi-fighting professor back to theaters on July 29, 2022.
