UFC Fight Night: Vettori vs Holland – Mike Perry vs. Daniel Rodriguez : Prediction and Analysis

It’s always a good day in the life of an MMA fan when a Mike Perry fight is on display. Ask any random fan if they know of someone called Mike Perry, and you’ll be greeted by a chuckle and a meme to go with it.

However, not to make fun of his distant past, he is going through a bit of a rough patch. He is 3-6 in his last nine fights and looks like he is not capable of cutting weight. He came in massively over the weight limit in his last fight against Tim Means and lost the fight via a unanimous decision.

Nevertheless, there should be no doubts about his ability, as he is really talented and a great fighter on his day. Will his day come tomorrow? Nobody knows. He is set to face Daniel Rodriguez on the main card of UFC Fight Night: Vettori vs. Holland on April 10, 2021. This fight is at welterweight as well.

Rodriguez is more of an enigma than Perry, as he has only lost twice in his entire career, and both those fights have come via a decision. Still, he shouldn’t be too comfortable against someone with the knockout power of Mike Perry.

He is coming off a loss in his last fight against Nicolas Dalby, and people might discredit him for the level of opposition that he has faced. However, it wouldn’t really be his fault as you can only beat what he’s in front of you.

Mike Perry and Daniel Rodriguez: Fighting styles and stats

Perry has a record of 14-7, and while this might pale in comparison to Rodriguez’s 13-2, Perry has faced some real killers in Donald Cerrone, Geoff Neal, and Vicente Luque. Out of Perry’s 14 wins, 11 have come via knockout. He has some good wrestling skills and is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

On the other hand, Rodriguez is a well-rounded fighter with an all-around game. He has 7 wins via knockout, and if that doesn’t work, he can always resort to his submission skills, which he has used to win four fights. He also has a size advantage over Perry, so that could be a factor.

In all honesty, Perry is the major factor in this fight. If he has a good weight cut and he is motivated, he can beat anyone on his day. However, that hasn’t happened in a while now. So, keep your eyes on this one.

Prediction: Mike Perry via a first-round knockout
