Where is the NFL Draft in 2021? Location, city, tickets for Cleveland and beyond

In 2020, the NFL Draft was held virtually and televised from Roger Goodell’s basement as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. But now, the draft will be making a return to a city in 2021.

The NFL Draft will head to Cleveland, Ohio for 2021. The draft will begin on April 29 and will have limited attendance because of the ongoing pandemic. Some of the top prospects will be invited to attend and though not all will go, including likely No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence, this year’s draft will feel a lot more normal than that of last year.

The NFL has also determined where the draft would be held in 2022 and 2023. Below you’ll find more information about the future of the NFL Draft and its host cities.

Where is the NFL Draft this year?

The 2021 NFL Draft will be held in Cleveland, Ohio.

The NFL is planning to hold an outdoor draft in the city with Lake Erie serving as a backdrop for the draft’s stage. Additionally, a limited number of fans will be able to attend the event, which will adhere to the CDC’s guidelines for hosting outdoor events. Those chosen to sit among the “Inner Circle” to represent and cheer on their NFL team will need to be fully vaccinated.

This marks the first time that the NFL Draft will be coming to Cleveland, and the team, fresh off their first playoff win since 1994, is excited for the opportunity to host the draft.

“We are thrilled for Cleveland to host this year’s NFL Draft and celebrate the hard-working and inspiring new Draft prospects, football’s great history, and our fans. It is even more special as we commemorate our 75th anniversary and have the opportunity to showcase the wonderful city of Cleveland to an international audience and to a responsible number of fans and visitors during the weekend,” said Dee and Jimmy Haslam, Managing and Principal Partners of the Cleveland Browns.

“We greatly appreciate the continued collaboration by the NFL, local and state government officials and medical experts who are all focused on creating a memorable and safe experience and we are also extremely encouraged by the state of Ohio’s vaccination rates and advancements that are allowing us to make the progress needed to return to a safe and more normal environment.”

The Browns are armed with the 22nd selection in the draft, so needless to say, Cleveland fans will be eagerly awaiting that selection.

2022 NFL Draft: Las Vegas

Las Vegas was supposed to welcome the Raiders to the city by being the backdrop for the 2022 NFL Draft. Instead, the Vegas streets were largely empty last April because of the COVID-19 pandemic. So too was Allegiant Stadium.

Luckily for the NFL, the league had not yet determined where the 2022 NFL Draft would be held. With that vacancy, they were able to pencil in Las Vegas as the host. That will afford them to properly welcome the Raiders to their new host city and create a massive event and destination for football fans.

The 2020 NFL Draft was supposed to be the first even with fans in the Raiders’ new stadium. With that now moved to 2022, it will no longer be the case, as at least some segment of fans should grace Allegiant Stadium during the 2021 campaign. And there could be a lot of them, as the stadium can hold 65,000-70,000 fans, depending on the event.

A draft in Vegas should be plenty of fun for fans and players alike.

2023 NFL Draft: Kansas City

Back to back drafts will be hosted by AFC West teams, as the Chiefs will be the hosts during the 2023 NFL Draft. That should end up being a lot of fun.

Chiefs fans are among the most passionate in the NFL, and they always show up in full force to Chiefs games and tailgates, even in sub-freezing temperatures. The event will be centered around Union Station and the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

“We are excited to work with the Kansas City Chiefs, the City of Kansas City, and the Kansas City Sports Commission to showcase the area for a week-long celebration of football that will be watched by millions of fans,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “We know Chiefs fans will come out to celebrate along with thousands of fans from teams around the country for an incredible experience as we welcome the next generation of NFL players.”

2024 NFL Draft: TBD

The NFL has yet to determine where the 2024 NFL Draft will be held. That said, the Green Bay Packers are reportedly one of the finalists expected to host it along with a couple of other unreported teams. So, perhaps the NFL will make a decision on that in the not-so-distant future.
