Wyclef Jean performs marathon three-hour set at Hamptons fundraiser

Wyclef Jean went to a benefit to support a good cause — but he ended up supporting the host.

After performing a marathon set at a fundraiser for the Mariano Rivera Foundation at the Hamptons home of power lawyer David Hryck, the ever-energetic Fugees legend hoisted Hryck onto his shoulders and paraded him around the party, we’re told.

Hryck also joined the musician on stage.

Guests included Yankees closer legend Rivera, Cuba Gooding Jr., Luann de Lesseps, Matt Taylor CEO of Duane Morris, “the leather king” Mitch Alfus, designer Amit Hooda of Secteur 6, Lava Recourses and Innocence Project co-founder Jason Flom, Kelly Bensimon and People’s Revolution’s Kelly Cutrone.

The event helped raise funds for the Mariano Rivera Learning Center in New Rochelle, New York, which, according to the foundation’s site, “will provide an even stronger foundation for learning in our community.”

The foundation — which Hryck sits on the board of — says it’s “dedicated to providing children from impoverished families with life skills that will set them on the path to a brighter future.”

“Founded in 1998 by Mariano and Clara Rivera, along with our caring volunteers and generous donors we have strengthened communities and changed lives through college scholarships, back-to-school events and disaster relief,” the site says.

“With access to STEM learning opportunities, mentorship programs, life skills and vocational training, students are prepared for college and empowered to enter the workforce with determination to succeed in high-demand positions.”

Jean said recently that during COVID, he’s been “trying to find time to develop a scoring and source app,” which he’s calling Sodo, after a magical river in Haiti.
